In 2017, Kennedy launched The Broke Black Girl Facebook group to address the struggles facing young women of color like Kennedy, who have been overlooked in the traditional conversations around personal finance. Kennedy, who has more than a decade of experience working as an accountant and default counselor, leads the women through discussions around different aspects of financial wellbeing.

What the Judges say about Dasha

“In many cases, finfluencers are chasing likes across social rather than creating content in the best interest of their followers. Dasha, on the other hand, combines the best of ethical content creation with financial literacy,” said Nav.it founder Erin Papworth. “She has created an inclusive and practical community to reach a population under-served by traditional banking and media outlets.”

What Dasha has to say about the recognition

Former Wall Street veteran, Marc Russell explains, “What I love most about Dasha is how she’s always her candid, unapologetic self. Additionally, the value she consistently provides to others is beyond priceless. She’s changing lives!”

“I consider it an honor to be recognized for the work that I am doing in the personal finance space, especially by an organization that understands the connection between mindfulness and money,” explained Kennedy. “There is a lot of financial healing that takes place while a woman of color is on her personal finance journey and most of it is for reasons beyond her control. As a financial activist, it’s necessary for me to bring awareness to those inequities while also cultivating a safe financial community online for women and it feels good to know that Nav.it supports that”

Dasha will be honored Monday, March 30, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. ET on Nav.it’s Instagram @letsnavit.
